Tornado is by the top winning Belgian Warmblood Darco, who himself is a combination of two pillars of the Belgian breeding business Lugano and Codex.

Darco has won many competitions in his career such as: Champion of Belgium as a 5 year old; winner of the Belgian Championship as a 6 year old; winner Volvo World Cup in London 1988 and in Hertogenbosch in 1989; 6th in the World Championships in Stockholm in 1990 and 7th place in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and 2nd in the richest Grand Prix in the world at Calgary. He has sired the promising stallion Fedor and King Darco, who competed in the Atlanta Olympics with Ludo Philipearts. His sire, Lugano has had a splendid breeding record. Lugano’s son ‘La Ina’, ridden by Peter Charles, won the European Championships in 1995.

Tornado’s dam, Biejelza is by the renowned Holstein Ramiro. He has produced a large number of international competition winners and stallions known world-wide and has been rated as number one sire of show jumping champions at international level.

One of the most successful descendants is the outstanding Ratina Z, winner of the Team Gold and the Individual Silver at the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992, winner of the world cup in 1993, winner of the Team gold at the World Championships in 1994 and the Team Gold at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996.

After only a few shows, Tornado FCS qualified for the Foxhunter Regional Final in his first season show jumping, coming second in the final at Wembley. He also qualified for the Grade C Final at Hickstead in the same season. Tornado FCS won the 7-year-old National Championships with Bill Twomey. Michael Whitaker then toured this young horse successfully internationally at shows like Calgary and Dublin, culminating in a superb 2nd in the World Cup Qualifier in Mechelin, Belgium, and winning the Masters in a nail-biting five-rounder with a fast jump off. Michael Whitaker says: “I don’t remember a more exciting or successful 7-year-old.” 1999 2nd Foxhunter Final HOYS, Wembley, London (6 years), Gary Gillespie 2000 Winner National 7 & 8 year old Champ’s, Wembley, London (7 years), Billy Twomey 2000 Winner Land Rover Master’s, Mechelin CSI-W, Belgium, Michael Whitaker 2000 2nd World Cup Qualifier Mechelin CSI-W, Belgium (7 years), Michael Whitaker 2000 0, 4 and placed in G.P., Mechelin CSI-W, Belgium (7 years), and Michael Whitaker.

Tornado offspring are competing well: 9 year old Hurricane, (out of Flarepath) and Thor are competing nationally and internationally and Typhoon, a 6 year old, was 2nd in the Scottish 5 year old Championships with Douglas Duffin. Volcano, 3rd n Hickstead Derby, had 0.4 in Nations Cup CDI**** in Prague Finishing 3rd & winner of the Lumen Grand Prix.

‍Availability

Tornado FCS is now deceased and there is a limited supply of Frozen Semen available. For this reason three doses of semen will be allocated per mare (Stud Fee: £500) and is for a single pregnancy. Semen will be shipped in individual doses and in the event of no pregnancy by 1st October 50% of the stud fee shall be returned.
